The Corpus Christi Taxpayers Association is a non-profit, non-partisan, educational organization.
We attempt to educate the public on various issues of local goverment. We seek to provide information and data to the membership, public and politicians.
Taxpayers are not a special interest group seeking preferential treatment. When we demand tax relief, we seek merely the right to enjoy the fruits of our labor. Taxpayers are a general interest group--but of a very special kind. We pay the bills that make all government operations and programs possible. Simple justice entitles us to a healthy measure of respect, and yet our interest often seems the last to be considered.
The basic interests of taxpayers may be summarized as follows: economic growth, fiscal restraint, efficient government, and a competitive political process. These interests are truly general in character. Society as a whole benefits when the economy grows, when the public debt is held to manageable levels, when government programs work and are cost-effective, and when citizens through free competitive elections are able to hold government accountable for what it does with their resources.
When the local media fails to report important tax issues, the Corpus Christi Taxpayer's Association speaks up for all.
